Pedagogical drama is a key feature of the Class 12 curriculum, first with the Three Kings Play at the beginning of January, and then their Class play at the end of the year, as their gift to the School before leaving.
With examinations behind them, this whole-class production – together with the Clay Head Main Lesson, Class 12 Conference at Michael Hall and Class trip abroad – round off their school career at Edinburgh Steiner School, that for some spans fifteen years from Kindergarten.
Wizard of Oz (2022)
Class 12 performed an original version of the Wizard of Oz to the public on Monday 4th July, followed by a second performance to Classes in the School the following day, (including Classes 1 – 3, whose Class Teachers extended the pupils school day so that they could be in the audience). Photographer Ewan Mathers captured the dress rehearsal.
Alice In Wonderland (2021)
“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.” Our final year pupils performed their Class 12 play Alice in Wonderland in 2021 to an audience of parents in the School Hall; followed by a second showing to Classes from the School. It was also captured on film by Camel Digital, to be shared with our wider school community (view below).
Around The World In 80 Days by Class 12 (2020)
Class 12’s animated radio play featured on BBC Scotland. Based on the novel by Jules Verne, Class 12’s radio play narrates the story of Phileas Fogg, a gentleman of mathematical precision, and his journey to circumnavigate the globe. Prepare to be taken on a worldwide adventure without even leaving your home.
Set in 1872, this was no easy feat, with trains, steamships and sometimes even elephants as the only available means of transport. Moreover, all this rested on a wager of £20,000 with the gentlemen at the Reform Club, the equivalent of over 2 million pounds today. Will he make it?
