The Human Body & How We Store Emotions In It

My portfolio is an exploration of the human body and how we store our emotions inside of it. I began with the outside of the body, the skin, the fragility of our only layer of protection.

As the project progressed, I went further into the body, the second layers (the facia) and what’s underneath when it breaks from outside pressures.

My exploration of the physicality of our organs is simultaneously a display of the vulnerable exposure of our organs as well as the storage of our emotions. I’ve used bold colours to represent the intensity of these feelings.

The introduction of the medical model of the woman was inspired by artists such as Annette Messager, an icon in the world of installation art and anatomy. This powerful woman is a representation of both the fear and courage created by the exposure of our deepest emotions.

I feel that it is important to safely explore our emotions and our physicality and especially how they overlap.
