I am interested in exploring my arachnophobia through artwork in my personal project. engaging in the ideas of phobias and how they can invoke feelings of fear, irrational thoughts and deep discomfort, I aimed to tackle this through my art by playing with the scale of the human figure and the spider (web), showing how fear can distort our outlooks and causing tension through a limited colour palette.

In my final piece, I aim to show the illusion of fear through the use of shadow as a metaphor for our imagination and reaction. whilst simultaneously some of the beauty that can be found in the world of spider webs and the symptoms of arachnophobia.

Space

The theme of space intrigued me as it has so many different interpretations. the duality between astronomy and astrology is something I have always enjoyed. One world is made of stories, history and myth; the other of maths, facts and science.

In this project, I aim to bring together these two elements, playing with the imagery, of our constellations, whilst also playing with the physical , and mathematical forms, of origami folded shapes, which link to the science Platonic Solids, which I studied in School in Class 7.
