Project: Garden

Between the busy streets and built-up areas of the city, small pockets of green exist, tiny heavens to the wildlife that make the city and suburbs their home.

My own back garden  is a hive of activity for the birds that migrate and live in Edinburgh.

I used this project as an opportunity to explore my garden and how it thrives in both the day and the night.  As one place it inhabits two guises. Looking from the sky, through the trees and down to the undergrowth, I aimed to capture these rich outdoor spaces in both their daytime and night time forms.

Project: Oceans

Below the surface of the water is an interesting world, one that we can look at but can never occupy.

Forests of seaweed, schools of fish, shivers of sharks, the secret cave homes, of octopuses, and the scattered light from the sun splitting through the ever-shifting surface of the water.

We often feel a sense of fear when swimming over a deep body of water, a sense of the unknown.

My work aims to explore the breadth of the complexity and intrigue of this underwater world whilst hinting at our sense of peril through the use of both lush and dark colour schemes. I set out to create an image that shows both of these sides of the ocean.
